The United Green Movement (UGM) Party was excited to participate in the 2025 People’s Dialogue Festival, held at Uhuru Park Gardens and organised by the Centre for Multi-Party Democracy (CMD-Kenya). The annual festival has become a significant space for civic and political actors to engage citizens on governance, policy, and democratic renewal. For the UGM Party, the festival provided an opportunity to present its vision of clean, values-driven politics anchored in justice, sustainability, and inclusive leadership.

Over the course of the 3-day festival, the UGM Party leadership engaged with a wide cross-section of Kenyans, with particularly strong interest from young people. Many sought to better understand the party’s leadership model, which promotes shared power through gender-balanced co-leadership. This structure continues to draw attention as a progressive and intentional shift from traditional political hierarchies, reflecting UGM’s belief in collective leadership and inclusive governance.

Young Kenyans visiting the party stand also expressed interest in the it’s ideological and policy positions. UGM shared its commitment to environmental sustainability, social and economic justice, youth empowerment, and participatory democracy. Inquiries around the party’s approach to economic transformation and tackling youth unemployment revealed a growing demand for political movements that address systemic inequality with practical, people-centered solutions.

A key focus of the engagement was demystifying political participation. Many festivalgoers wanted to know how they could be actively involved in shaping the future of governance. UGM offered information on membership, volunteer opportunities, and platforms for contributing to policy development, affirming that political engagement goes beyond election seasons and is a year-round, citizen-led endeavor.

A notable moment during the festival was a courtesy visit by Former Chief Justice David Maraga to the UGM stand. His presence and participation in the youth-led festival provided a powerful reminder of the importance of ethical leadership, constitutionalism, and institutional integrity, all of which are core to UGM’s mission.

The strong turnout and enthusiasm around the UGM stand reflected a shift in public interest toward more principled and participatory political alternatives. As a party committed to transforming Kenya’s political culture, UGM is encouraged by this momentum. We will continue to expand our outreach, grow our membership, and provide accessible spaces for civic dialogue and political education, especially for youth, women, and marginalized groups.

UGM Party thanks CMD-Kenya for hosting the festival annually and all citizens who engaged with us. Together, we continue to build a political movement that centers people, principles, and the planet.

Let’s see you on the next one!
